Amiliane fa Landreg (pronounced ah-MILL-ee-ahn fa LAND-reg) was a Namornese noblewoman who was born to one of the richest noble houses of Namorn — House Landreg — which shares blood with the imperial family. She was the wife of Mattin fer Toren and the mother of Sandrilene fa Toren, her only child and heir. Berenene dor Ocmore, the Empress of Namorn, was her maternal first cousin, making Sandry the empress's first cousin once removed.
Note that all things mentioned in her biography never actually take place in the books but are mentioned extensively throughout the novels, especially when we learn more about Sandry's past.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Amiliane grew up as a member of the main branch of the family, as opposed to the family of Ambros fer Landreg, a cadet branch. It is unknown if she was the heir apparent to the clehamat from birth or if other siblings died before she inherited. It is mentioned that she knew and revered Ishabal Ladyhammer, the right hand mage of the empress. She only learned how dangerous the mage was when she snooped around the old lady's storeroom. It is unknown exactly what happened, but it did put reverence in her dealings with Ishabal and the stories she told about her. Amiliane married Emelanese nobility, and became a part of House Toren, the ruling family of Emelan. Her husband, Mattin, was either a baron or a count in Emelan and was the nephew of Duke Vedris IV. It is unknown when exactly she became the Countess of Landreg.
Countess and motherhood[]
As a countess, either before or very early after the birth of her daughter, Sandrilene fa Toren, Amiliane visited her estates that were looked after by her cousin, Ambros. When Gudruny Iarun tried to petition Amiliane for help in order to release her from a forced and abusive marriage to Halmar the miller, Amiliane rode past her and ignored her several times. Also, even though times were hard and repairs needed to be made, still had the same large sum of money sent to her and to her daughter, even though the lands and tenants needed it more.
She and her husband brought Sandry to Namorn, but Sandry was quite young so she didn't really remember everything.
Extensive traveling and death[]
Amiliane and Mattin loved to travel, and they brought Sandry with them. Sandry only later realized that this was indicative if her parents' lack of interest in their noble duties to their tenants, as they were away so often, and Namorn had strict laws that only the ruling noble may petition the Imperial Family for anything.
Amiliane and her husband died in Hatar of the smallpox epidemic in 1034 KF, leaving Sandry the sole heir to the clehamat and the title of Countess.
Physical description[]
Amiliane is described as being very beautiful, without her daughter's button nose.
Personality and traits[]
Amiliane was very flighty, and cared more for her family and having fun than looking after the people she was supposed to protect and see to, such as Gudruny. She also ignored her tenants when they petitioned her, and ignored her duties to her hands. Although Sandry loved and missed her mother, she recognized these faults in her and swore that she would be a better Landreg and countess than her mother ever was. Part of that, for Sandry, was realizing the best thing she could do was give it up to someone who cared about it more than she did, especially since she did not intend to stay in Namorn indefinitely.

Notes and references[]
- ↑ Although she could be a dor Ocmore princess, there was no mention of Sandry in the line of succession to Namorn, just as a relation of the empress. The woman could be a sister of Berenene's mother, and thus not have rights of succession to the Namornese throne.
