Captain Aram Sklaw was head of the palace guard around the time when Alanna of Trebond was a page at the Royal Palace. He taught Alanna and the pages the rudimentary skills of fencing. He was quite gruff with the pages and made them work hard. According to Duke Gareth of Naxen he complained every year that the new ones were no good for fencing but still managed to make good fighters out of them every time.
