Lady Baylisa of Disart was a Tortallan noblewoman who lived during the 3rd century HE. She was lady in waiting to Countess Aeldra of Queensgrace, and was a spokeswoman of the Gentle Mother. She strongly believed that women were of gentle and serene heart and would break under brutish lifestyles. Countess Aeldra said that Lady Baylisa had converted many a woman to the Gentle Mother.
Biography
Early life
Baylisa of Disart was raised to be a proper noble lady. At some point she was introduced to the Gentle Mother and the idea that women were inherently vulnerable creatures who only yearned for a child's touch. Baylisa became a strong supporter of the idea before or after she came into Countess Aeldra's service as her lady in waiting.
Meeting Rebakah Cooper
When Rebakah Cooper, a member of the Provost's Guard came to stay at Fief Queensgrace, she first met Lady Lewyth, Baylisa's younger and more lively sister. Wyttabyrd, Countess Aeldra's other lady in waiting, made a slightly rude remark of Cooper's lack of hygiene, and Lady Baylisa scolded her for it, saying the Gentle Mother adjures all of higher rank to show grace and kindness to those beneath them. Baylisa then went on to tell Cooper that she needn't be a guardswoman anymore and that she yearned for a child's touch, the spindle, and a husband, and all she needed to do was to submit herself to the service of the Gentle Mother. Baylisa showed disbelief when Cooper revealed that she was already in service to a god.
Countess Aeldra described Baylisa as an eloquent advocate of the Gentle Mother.
It is unknown if she knew about the rebel conspiracy.
