Hi I am working on a fanfic and I was hoping someone could help me. Could some explain to me what exactly Cooking and Carpenter Magic is? I have been trying to find the books online to read but I cant find them anywhere and I have o ky been able to the first series and part of the 2nd series. If anyone could give me some examples of what they can do or explain to me what all they can control would be much appreciated. Like so far I know that a person made some they did tell was a murder or something like that but I want to know what they can really do. Thank you in advance.

Another early morning of grammar edits and fun readings. I love this wiki.

I have a busy life, but I still manage to edit entries here. There was NaNoWriMo, the holidays, general life, etc, etc. My life drags on.

A recent blog post on Tamora Pierce's prive livejournal seems to reveal the title of the next book in the Circle Universe. In the blog entry titled "Catching Up" Tamora Pierce mentions that she will be working on "Battle Magic". This title would fit the topic of the next book, which is to be set during a war in Yanjing and featuring Briar Moss, Evvy and Rosethorn. So "Battle Magic" seems to be at least the working title of the next book.
I think the title would fit the book (from what we know so far) very well and it would also fit into the scheme that Tamora Pierce's books often tend to have two-word titles or one-word titles recently we've had only two exceptions to this rule (The Will of the Empress and Tortall and Other Lands: A Collectio…

I've been busy with my studies, so unfortunately I haven't been as frequent with giving updates as news as I used to. Unfortunately I can't promise that it gets better. But I can assure you that I'm still here, looking after things and trying to fit in as much time as I can for the wiki.
This gets me to my first point for this update: I think it would be best to have another, more active admin, so if anyone with in-depth knowledge of Tamora Pierce's books and preferably also MediaWiki/Wikia experience, would like the position and has enough time, please let me know. I have to say that I would first ask for about a month's worth of active participation in the wiki to make sure we find a competent person. The best way would be an answer to th…

On my daily check of Tamora Pierce's livejournal I was at first overjoyed by this entry, which states that the first draft of Mastiff is finished and counts 660 pages; about 100 pages more than Bloodhound. Pierce plans on finishing the rewrite by the end of March.
The bad news of her entry's title phrase follows in the form of a surgery with rehab afterwards for which I wish her the best of luck and a quick recovery.

Thanks to Denizine the wiki has a new skin. It's more colorful than our old design and has a lovely background image with pictures of different covers of Tamora Pierce's books. If you come across anything that still needs to be tweaked, just let me or Denizine know and we'll see what we can do about it.
By the way: a watchful editor has informed me that Mastiff is now set to be released in November 2011. This is a more definite release date than the ones known before, so I hope we'll have the book in hands by the end of next year.

I just noticed that Tamora Pierce has made another post on her public livejournal. In it she gives some details concerning the future short story collection, Tortall and Other Lands: A Collection of Tales, which is scheduled for publication in February, 2011.
These are the already published stories featured in this collection: Plain Magic, Testing, Time of Proving, Huntress, Mimic, Student of Ostriches, Elder Brother, The Hidden Girl and The Dragon's Tale.
Two new stories mentioned by Tamora Pierce are Lost, featuring a Tusaine girl, and Nawat.
You can read the full post with details to the stories on Tamora Pierce's livejournal.

Just browsing and not really looking for any news I came upon this: The product page for Tamora Pierce's planned short story collection on amazon.com. We finally have a name for the upcoming book, Tortall and Other Lands: A Collection of Tales, as well as a publication date, February 22, 2011. Here's the product description:

The release date for the Realms of the Gods audiobook, produced by Full Cast Audio, has been pushed back again. Originally scheduled for release in 2009 it was then postponed to mid-April this year and has since been moved again. Full Cast Audio's website now lists it as being published in mid-June this year. So all that remains for us to do is wait and see if it will be released in June.
By the way the Magic Steps audiobook, also produced by Full Cast, announced for some time now, originally listed to be released in mid-May (which I suspect was just to give some date, because it looked quite improbable) is now scheduled for release in mid-October, which seems probable but could very well be pushed back again.

When visiting Tamora Pierce's website today I noticed that the listing of upcoming publications on the left had a new entry: A short-story collection with both already known and new content is to be published this year. Pierce had already mentioned this collection in December, when responding to the question about her progress on Mastiff, that she was at that time finishing three stories for the collection, before she would return to Mastiff.
I certainly think that this is good news. It means something new from Tammy this year - if the release date is not pushed back, which I really hope will not occur - and shorten the waiting time for Mastiff. It'll be great to have her short stories together in one place and I certainly do look forward to n…

UPDATE Some time ago I requested a spotlight for our wiki, because I was of the opinion that we met the criteria and that it would bring some attenton from other wikians to the site. Earlier today my request was approved, so that one of those three small buttons on the buttom of every wikia-page might soon say "Tamora Pierce Wiki". However, I can't tell you when exactly we'll be spotlighted. There are still some other sites in queue before us. But I've also noticed that the list was worked down quite quickly lately, so it could be anything between quite soon and in the far future. Just keep your eyes open.
There are no Tamora Pierce related news. The Realms of the Gods is still scheduled to be released as audiobook on April 15 this year, but …

After I gave you over a month more time to give your opinions on the proposed changed to our Manual of Style I read over it again and put my draft up as the new official Manual of Style. If any problems with it arise feel free to bring them up, either here, on the manual's talk page or in the community forums. To make it more prominent I've also added a link to our Manual of Style to the sidebar at the left. For the same reason I've added a link to the to do list.
I also wanted to remind everyone to give their opinions on how we should images (especially which images to include in articles) in the forums. Recent talk page entries show that opinions on the subject--totally understandably--vary. Discussing different opinions helps to sol…

I am going to forget this thing doesn't have a title till I'm about to publish it I know. Then I'll add one. I haven't been on in a whiel beauce this week was a hard one. I am awaiting Mastiff so for anmy pirates reading this please strand me like in 2012. So I have Terrier, Bloodhound, and Mastiff. It also means I'll miss every one going crazy over supposedly dying on Winter break. I remember (barely) everyone talking about 2000 being the end of the world. Or close to that. I love the Beka Cooper books! I have a crush on Matthias Tunstall. I'll say it flat out. I just have a thing for tall guys. You know I didn't find out about Bloodhound until i picked up a cassete version of Terrier to listen to over my summer break. It said Book One on it. I freaked out. So when we got home I looked up Terrier on Amazon.com then I found Bloodhound. Well I'm in the middle of it for the second time. I was thinking of Matthias Tunstall at Tae Kwon Do for some reason. So when I got home I looked him up. I found this site and learned about the upcoming book Mastiff. I like Mastiffs. Comparing Beka to a Mastiff if you think about is just right! I have discovered the song Dreams by Cranberry fits when the Shadow Snake kills himslef. I…
