Chitral (pronounced chit-TRAHL) is a elemental spirit living on the Roof of the World, on a pass of the same name. He normally guards the Dominion Jewel and sees it as entertainment when mortals come to him and fight to obtain the jewel. This was also the case when Sir Alanna of Trebond and Olau came in search of his treasure. Chitral threw a snow storm at her and later faced her in the form of a giant mountain ape. Alanna obtained several injuries from him but Chitral eventually gave her the jewel.

He only appears once in Lioness Rampant.
