Darkmoon is Alanna's horse by the time of Wild Magic. He is the grandson and a direct descendant of Moonlight, Alanna's first horse. He looks very like Moonlight, except that while Moonlight's mane and tail were white, Darkmoon's are black. Daine first encounters him in the year 449 HE, and at this point he is already a grown horse.
