The earthquake of 1035 KF had been building up all summer, beginning around the spring equinox. All summer small quakes shook Winding Circle and the rest of the Emel Peninsula. The big quake finally breaks loose in early Mead Moon. Had it run its normal course it wouldn't have bothered Summersea but instead hit Ragat Island and its neighbour Pajun Island. Huath, the Dedicate Superior of Wave Circle Temple on Ragat Island, however, tried to trap the quake in a magical device. In the trap the quake got stronger until it finally broke loose, destroying Wave Circle temple and many of its inhabitants, icluding Huath. It also caused great damage on other parts around the northern shore of the Pebbled Sea, including Summersea. Briar Moss, Trisana Chandler, Daja Kisubo and Sandrilene fa Toren ware trapped in a cave by the quake and had to spin their magics together to survive the experience. This was when they gain their phenomenal powers and telpathic ability.^[1]

The clay pipes under Summersea, leading the used water into the sewers, were also damaged from the quake. The cracks and leaks they had suffered could still be seen in Sap Moon of 1036 KF.^[2]
