Emry of Haryse (hahr-EES) was a Tortallan nobleman who lived during the time of King Jasson the Conqueror. He was also a famed general who served King Jasson during his conquests.

Biography

Early life

He is most likely a descendant of Lord Gershom and Lady Teodorie of Haryse. His family is in the Book of Gold, and is one of the oldest families of the realm.

Soldiering and life as general

As the eldest son of the Haryse noble family, Emry most likely went through knight training, as was the custom with elder noble sons. He rose through the ranks and became a very famed general for King Jasson I, and was probably at the head of most of the king's conquests.

Legacy

Many, including Owen of Jesslaw and Neal himself, cite Emry of Haryse as a hero. Many of Neal's friends among the pages were shocked when they learned that Neal is the grandson of the famed general[1]. Emry wrote many books about the various battles he had commanded. Raoul of Goldenlake, the Knight Commander of the King's Own, said that it truly wasn't fair that Emry was both an excellent writer and an excellent general[2].
