Fern Cooper is the grandmother of Rebakah Cooper on her father's side. Her daughter-in-law is Ilony Cooper, who dies in 244 HE. Fern's other grandchildren include Diona, Lorine, Will and Nilo Cooper. She lives in the Lower City of Corus and used to teach Beka how to use her magic with the pigeons and dust spinners. Fern has a tomcat^[1].

Beka regularly visits Fern to help her with chores in the household and to go shopping for her. Beka also trusts her grandmother, telling her about her work and getting good advice from the older woman.
