Finlach "Fin" fer Hurich is one of the young men chosen by Empress Berenene to try and woo her cousin Sandrilene fa Toren into staying in Namorn. He is described as red-headed, with a handsome face composed entirely of carved angles.

He attempts a kidnapping on Sandry when he believes that she snubbed him openly at a party. He also does it to try and please Berenene, and to earn Clehamat Landreg. To do this he contacts his uncle Notalos fer Hurich, the head of the Mages Society, to get the building plans of the palace. The kidnapping fails because of the power of the thread-circle. This is when the four young mages all begin to connect again and work in magical concert. Finlach causes the very thing Berenene doesn't want to happen again.

When Berenene hears of his deed she has him and his uncle arrested for high treason. Finlach does not appear after this.
