Flick had been Briar's friend since the winter in 1035/1036 KF. In her childhood, she had been badly treated by her mother.[1] Later she had to fend for herself and as a street rat (thief). She lived in the Summersea sewers and got her water from the fountain near Potter's Lane.[2] Briar and Flick met every market day that Briar accompnied his teacher Rosethorn to Urda's House. There Flick always met him and they roamed the city, talking about their experiences on the street.[3] In Wolf Moon of 1036 KF Flick appearently had a cough because Briar stole cough syrup for her, which made her feel better. He also taught Flick how to throw a knife in late Storm Moon or early Carp Moon that year.[4] Even for a person living on the streets Flick was exceptionally poor, not even able to afford the cheapest medical help at Urda's House. Instead she asked a friend of hers, Alleypup, to fetch Briar to her so he could help her.[5] Flick was the first person to be discovered with Blue Pox, and the first to be brought into quarantine at Urda's House. Through her it was learned how the Blue Pox developed.

She had a deep brown skin, and by the time Briar had found her she was very skinny and covered in the Blue Pox. The pox' spots and blotches made her skin appear even darker and were on every part of her body, from hairline to toes, even on the inside of her cheeks. She had also fever, with the glassy eyes and cracked and bleeding lips. She had begun feeling unwell five days before Briar found here; the spots had appeared three days later.[6]

Briar believed Flick to be on the mend when the spots faded from her skin, but Rosethorn was less confident. She was more worried about Flick's fever, which was resistant even to willowbark tea.[7] Her fever was rising within hours and Flick was quickly dehydrating. Accompanying this she had hallucinations. The following night she had a seizure.[1] She would later die of the Pox, with Briar by her side.

Flick only appears in Briar's Book.
