Gainel is a Great God in the Tortallan Universe. He has power over the dreams of mortals and is the only Great God unable to leave the Divine Realms, except for bringing dreams to mortals. He does not talk outside of dreams. Veralidaine Sarrasri and Numair Salmalín meet him while staying with Daine's parents in the Divine Realms after they barely escaped the skinners. He also communicates with Daine in her dreams telling her of the struggle between Uusoae and the Great Gods and who her pawns are, one of them the stormwing Ozorne.

He appears in The Realms of the Gods.
