Lady Inoulia fa Juzon (pronounced inn-OO-lee-ah fah JOO-zohn) is an Emelanese noblewoman. She is the widow of one of Duke Vedris's sons, thus she is a member of House Toren. She is the Lady of Gold Ridge, a fief that had been having trouble with forest fires because of a major drought.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Lady Inoulia was married to one of the Duke's sons who died later, leaving her a widow. It is unknown if she had any children with her late husband as none are mentioned.

Events of 1035[]

In 1035 KF, Lady Inoulia asked for aid from her father in law and the mages of Winding Circle. Niklaren Goldeye, Lark, Rosethorn, and Frostpine are called to help, along with their four mages students. Daja Kisubo, a smith-mage, discovered valuable copper in Gold Ridge that could help with Inoulia's financial problems. Forest fires were also an issue, but Lady Inoulia placed her entire confidence in Yarrun Firetamer, an academic mage who studied at the University of Lightsbridge in Karang. She and Yarrun ignored the warnings that the other Winding Circle mages brought to them, as Lady Inoulia wanted to honor her chief fire mage, and Yarrun was too arrogant to accept aid.

Physical description[]

The lady usually wears fine clothes to show her standing, silks and embroideries. She has dark brown skin, indicating that her family's origins lie in the south. Her hair is brown and frizzy. She has long and elegant fingers. Inoulia also wears an assortment of jewelry, including a gold band with emeralds on her head ressembling a tiara, a necklace with black pearls, and several rings.[1]

Personality and traits[]

She maintains the tradition of having meals with the visitors of her lands and her people, even servants, however she does so not out of respect for others, but rather to remind everyone who she is and the power she wields. Normally she occupies the highest place on the dais alone, except for those rare instances when noble visitors like her father-in-law are present.[2] Also the lady doesn't think that it's proper for a young lady like Sandry to do weaving. She doesn't seem to have much trust in Winding Circle either, because she suggests that Sandry should be sent to the University of Lightsbridge for a proper education.[3]

Family tree[]

Appearances[]

Lady Inoulia only appeared in Daja's Book.
