Matazidah Bancanor (pronounced mah-TAH-zee-day BAN-kan-ohr), nicknamed Matazi (mah-TAH-zee), was an inhabitant of Kugisko, although Namorn isn't her home country (it is actually Bihan). Originally from a less wealthy family she met Kolborn Bancanor at the same time she met Frostpine when both were studying. They became close friends and Frostpine and Matazi were even lovers for a short time. After Frostpine's and Matazie's affair, she married Kol and they had four children: twin sisters Niamara and Jorality and younger twins Peigi and Eidart.

Matazi only appears in Cold Fire.
