New Hope is a fortified town and refugee camp built in late 460 HE as a replacement for the destroyed camp of Haven. It is situated two miles south of Haven along the Greenwoods River, isolated enough so that the enemy can’t use the remains of Haven as an attack base.[1]

By September in 460 HE, New Hope looks more like a fortified town than a camp, which Keladry of Mindelan, the camp's knight commander, is pleased about.

Residents

New Hope was founded by Keladry of Mindelan, and built with the magical help of Numair Salmalín and Harailt of Aili. The residents are the same as those of Haven, including the commander Keladry, the chief healer Nealan of Queenscove, and the military chief Merric of Hollyrose. The town’s headwoman is the tough and commanding Fanche Weir, and the head of the clerks is Terrec.

During the Scanran War

New Hope’s refugee citizens are quite capable of defending themselves, and frequently remind Kel of this fact.[2] The camp remained in place even after the Scanran War had subsided, and Kel is still in command there in 464 HE[3].

Appearances

New Hope only appears in the epilogue of Lady Knight.
