Olka Valestone (pronounced OEL-kah) is a Tortallan civilian. She and her husband, Idrius, were forced to move from their home in Fief Tirrsmont to Haven, a refugee camp commanded by Keladry of Mindelan in 460 HE.
Biography
Marriage
Olka presumably made a very good match when she married Idrius, as he was a very successful fur merchant with connections in Corus. They lived primarily on Fief Tirrsmont, near the Scanran border.
Scanran War
Olka and Idrius were hit hard by the Scanran War in 460 HE, as they had to evacuate their home and go to Haven, a refugee camp located near the Scanran border. Idrius immediately expected special treatment due to his status as a successful fur merchant. Olka had to apologize for her husband many times. The war made her come out of her husband's shadow a bit, and she made friends and connections among the other refugees and camp officers.
She, along with the surviving adults during the full-scale attack on Haven while Keladry of Mindelan was reporting at Fort Mastiff, was kidnapped by Stenmun Kinslayer. The purpose was to sell the adults into slavery in Scanra, while using the children to fuel killing devices.
She and the rest of the adults were rescued by Keladry and company. She offered comfort to Peliwin Archer after the young lady was sexually assaulted by a Scanran soldier. She returned back to Tortall with the civilian adults, and was led by Merric of Hollyrose.
Personality and traits
She was the exact opposite of her husband, and caused as little trouble as possible. In fact, she was a very comforting woman. After being rescued by Keladry and her people from slavery, Olka returned to Tortall with her husband and other civilians, guided by Merric of Hollyrose.
