Peony is a darking who was sent by Veralidaine Sarrasri to help Alianne Crow while she was in Rajmuat.

Aly decided to place Peony in Master Grosbeak's office, where Peony could get direct information from Grosbeak's informants. Peony learned of how shaken up Grosbeak was about recent events involving unrest between the regents and Topabaw. Grosbeak had apparently already moved his family into the country. Lutestring was one of his informants at the palace.
