Piers of Mindelan (pronounced peers of MIHN-duh-lahn) was the father of Keladry of Mindelan, with nine children in total. He was a Tortallan diplomat to the Yamani Isles and was described to approach things in a diplomatic manner. His family, although being lesser nobility, became important in Tortall thorugh Piers' achievements in the Yamani Isles, securing a peace contract between both countries. Piers had also written a book about Yamani customs which was later used to teach the pages and prepare them for the Grand Progress.
He appears in the first three installments of the Protector of the Small quartet, First Test, Page and Squire.
