Sir Stigand of Fenrigh (pronounced STIHG-and of FEHN-righ) was a knight in Tortall and a member of the conservative faction of Tortall's nobility. He also was a member of the Fenrigh family, whose line can be traced back to the 200s HE.
Many conservative nobles disagreed with Raoul of Goldenlake, the Knight Commander of the King's Own, but never had the courage to challenge him. When Lord Raoul took on Keladry of Mindelan, the only girl in knight training since Alanna the Lioness, conservative nobles thought that Lord Raoul would fall from the grace of the gods, thus they challenged him. Sir Stigand was one of those who did, and received a concussion and a cracked skull. Baird of Queenscove, the chief healer thought he complained too much, and that everyone would think that it was a thrust to Sir Stigand's heart, the way he carried on.
