Ulmerin Valeward (pronounced uhl-MARE-in) was an academic mage and the father of Yarrun Firetamer. Like his son Ulmerin had studied at the University of Lightsbridge.^[1] He had been Yarrun's predecessor as chief mage in Gold Ridge.

He didn't appear in any of the novels personally but has been mentioned in Daja's Book.
