Zamiel Fairview (pronounced ZAH-mee-ell) was a clerk. He was assigned to Haven under Keladry of Mindelan by Wyldon of Cavall, the district commander. He served during the Scanran War and was slain in the attack and destruction of Haven in the June of 460 HE.
Zamiel was born in Blue Harbor, a port city located on the northern coast of Tortall near the Summer Palace and Arenaver. He probably attended school to become a scribe in Corus, and he served the palace scribes officially.
At some point, he learned how to fight with a sword, and learned to do it well. Kel thought later that he was the best swordsman she had ever come across.
Numair Salmalín brought Zamiel and a bunch of his colleagues north to the Scanran border, where they could aid commanders. They arrived in mid April of 460 HE. Keladry of Mindelan, while at first unsure of what to do with clerks being used to doing the work herself, warmed up to them immensely, and was extremely happy she had them in her service. They took care of paperwork, complaints, lists, and rosters, and were incredibly thorough. This led Kel to say she loved clerks to Numair several times.
He was killed during the destruction of Haven in early June, 460 HE. During the attack, he sent Tobeis Boon out through the secret passageway out of Haven, in order to find Kel at Fort Mastiff to get help. Zamiel sacrificed himself.
Personality and traits
Due to his occupation, Zamiel was trained to be quite observant. As such, he knew why every Haven resident kept going to Lady Kel with their problems, and told her that they knew she'd be fair in her dealings with them.
